The new Villa Ferro school center in the Municipality of Fidenza originates from the international design competition “Futura – The School of Tomorrow,” included in the PNRR Education program, and represents an example of eco-sustainable architecture.
The project includes 18 classrooms (15 for the primary school and 3 for the lower secondary school), 4 laboratories, 4 multipurpose spaces for art, music, and IT, 2 open libraries without walls, spaces for educational management, a cafeteria, a gym with changing rooms and showers, as well as a park equipped for educational and sports activities.

The design concept focuses on an innovative school, built according to ecological construction criteria and the principles of “Do No Significant Harm” (DNSH), with great attention to environmental sustainability. The typological simplicity of the spaces enhances readability and optimizes natural light, opening the classrooms toward the external garden and integrating technology without compromising usability.

The project integrates a photovoltaic system and bioarchitecture solutions, creating a sustainable building that promotes communication, collaboration, and children’s well-being. This intervention represents a clear model of architecture and sustainability applied to school construction, in line with the best practices of architectural masterplanning.
