The new Villa Ferro school complex, designed by Vittorio Grassi Architects for the Municipality of Fidenza and winner of the PNRR Education competition “Futura. The School of Tomorrow Project,” is conceived as a replicable model of contemporary school building.
The project is based on a modular, flexible and standardizable architectural system that can be adapted to different contexts, variable lot sizes and future expansions, ensuring architectural quality, energy efficiency and cost control. The typological clarity and rationalization of construction solutions enable their practical replicability by government agencies.
The master plan integrates educational, sports and community spaces into a unified body that is open to the community and usable beyond school hours, strengthening the school’s role as a civic infrastructure.
Environmental sustainability is a structural element of the project and responds to NRP goals through passive strategies, use of natural light, green roofs, photovoltaic systems, and durable, eco-friendly materials.
The Villa Ferro school hub represents a scalable and replicable PNRR best practice for building the public schools of the future.
