TRAVELING
ARCHITECTURE
Vittorio Grassi Architects designs a special installation for Samsonite’s flagship store at 11 Via San Pietro all’Orto, in the heart of Milan.
The project, which involves the street windows and the interior of the store, is designed as an immersive journey to discover the values shared by the studio and the historic luggage brand, first and foremost sustainability, innovation and industrial research.
On the one hand, Samsonite, on its responsible path to become the most sustainable luggage, bags and lifestyle accessories company in the world, and on the other hand Vittorio Grassi Architects, promoter of modular, ecological and customizable architecture: the meeting between these realities generates a concept that explores the concepts of lightness, technology, resistance, attention to detail and harmony applied on different scales and inspired by the natural world.
Traveling Architectures is a site-specific installation that, between visual suggestions and parallels between the designs of the VGA studio and the microarchitectures of the Samsonite collections, takes the visitor to explore the Samsonite world, moving from the product to the brand’s new responsible strategy, and VGA’s design vision, which embraces unprecedented forms of sustainable prefabrication, fully customizable and thought out from the beginning in all its digital declinations.
